The fire, which broke out on June 22nd and spread over an area of around seven hectares - the equivalent of around ten football fields - was a major challenge for the 1,560 firefighters who were deployed in the Harz Mountains. Thanks to the support of a firefighting aircraft, which could only operate sporadically due to strong winds, and the “Little Witch” drone, which uses GPS coordinates to locate embers, the final post-extinguishing work was carried out successfully.
