Drunk cyclist with 4.05 per mille – police sound the alarm!
An incident in Burg is causing a stir: on June 22, 2024 at 8:00 p.m., a 32-year-old cyclist was checked by the police on Martin-Luther-Straße. The man had an astonishing breathalyzer reading of 4.05 per mille, making him a real extreme case. According to ADAC, criminal inability to drive applies from 1.6 per mille. Given this high value and the associated failure symptoms, the cyclist was taken to Burg Hospital to have blood samples taken. After this check, he was banned from driving any vehicle and criminal proceedings were initiated for drunk driving.
The topic of drinking alcohol while driving is a constant feature in the news. Even if many people think that cycling is unproblematic, dealing with alcohol can have fatal consequences. The legal regulations state that alcohol-related failures can be punished from as little as 0.3 per mille. It is particularly important for cyclists to know that if the blood alcohol level is 1.6 per mille or more, there is a risk of significant penalties. In addition to fines, the driving license authority can also order a medical-psychological examination (MPU), as the ADAC explains.
Fire in the fields
While the cyclists struggled with alcohol and control, the fire brigade had their hands full in the late afternoon of June 22, 2025. At 7:26 p.m. the police were informed of a fire on a farmland near Niegripper See. On site it turned out that three fires had been discovered along a dirt road. A suspect admitted to intentionally setting two of these fires. The deployment of nine vehicles and 47 firefighters was necessary to extinguish the flames, which destroyed around 1,000 square meters of barley and undergrowth.
The police began investigating the arson in order to clarify the exact background and secure evidence. A criminal complaint was also filed, showing how seriously authorities are treating the fight against arson.
Burglary protection campaign day
To ensure the safety of citizens in everyday life, the police organized a day of action on the topic of “burglary protection” on June 24, 2025. From 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the market square in Genthin, experts will be available to provide citizens with information about mechanical and electronic burglary protection. There is also the opportunity to clarify questions about victim protection and police matters. The support of specialists from the State Criminal Police Office and officers from the Jerichower Land police station is intended to help better educate and protect citizens.
It remains to be seen how these topics will develop further. While some people ensure better safety in their own home, others may have to think about how they can avoid dangerous situations in traffic. In any case, it is important to be vigilant – no matter what the danger is.
