Blind cyclists conquer the Jerichower Land on new e-tandems!

As the pedals spin and the landscape passes by, blind and visually impaired people have the opportunity to enjoy the freedom of tandem riding. Time can't be stopped, but enthusiasm and community are timeless. This also applies to the annual tours in Jerichower Land, which are organized by Monika Möller and the Saxony-Anhalt North district group of the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired. Möller, who had the idea of tandem riding more than 15 years ago at a blind festival in Hanover, can look back on a successful history.

This tour has been taking place since 2013, and this year more than 30 participants from different federal states came together to take on the varied route. On August 8th, the cyclists set off from Bertingen, crossed the charming landscape around Rogätz and ventured on a ferry crossing to Schartau. The final destination of the trip is the Reinhard Riedel fishing company in Zerben, followed by another section to Ferchland, where there is another ferry crossing to Grieben. The tour covers around 150 kilometers and ends on August 10th with a friendly tour around Tangerhütte.

New e-tandems for more mobility

There is great joy because Aktion Mensch recently donated two new e-tandems to the Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired. Monika Möller was present at the handover and emphasized how important this donation is for the group's fleet. Such support is of immense importance because blind and visually impaired people can achieve a lot, especially in sport. The DBSV highlights that tandem riding is a perfect way to be active together and enjoy the beauty of nature.

Sport knows no boundaries - this is proven not only by the tandem riders in Jerichower Land, but also by numerous other sports that blind and visually impaired people can practice. At BBSB You can find out about a wide range of activities, from ball sports such as blind football to brave winter sports such as downhill skiing.

A moving experience for all participants

The combination of sport, community and adventure is not only a highlight for the blind participants. The sighted pilots who control the tandems also experience a lot of joy and solidarity when accompanying these special tours. The tour is now attracting attention beyond the region for the 13th time and shows how important inclusion and mutual exchange are.

Tandem riding in Jerichower Land is more than just a sporting activity. It's a sign of hope and proof that barriers can be overcome - with a little courage and a good knack for adventure. This justifies the great interest in this traditional event. Who can resist that?
