Heartbreak and harmonies: Loburg Organ Summer enchants on June 15th!
There will be a special highlight for all music enthusiasts in Loburg on Sunday, June 15th: the second concert in the “Loburger Orgelsommer” concert series will take place in the St. Lawrence Church. At 5 p.m. the Otto Schott Choir from Jena will make the church ring. This choir has already made a name for itself in the past when it performed in the Loburg Church and received a standing ovation.
The Otto Schott Choir, which has existed since 2000, has a diverse repertoire and inspires audiences and juries alike. He recently won a special prize for the “Best Performance of a Contemporary Work” at the German Choir Festival 2022 in Leipzig. With around 40 singers, who consist of a colorful mix of former students of the Otto-Schott-Gymnasium as well as newcomers, the choir brings a feeling of community and familiarity to every performance. The choir directors Maike Jonetz-Mentzel and Christian Herrmann support this atmosphere, while the founding initiator Kathrin Sadewasser continues to actively sing in the choir and assist with vocal training.
A program full of heart
The concert evening’s motto is “Affairs of the Heart”. Pieces by composers such as Schütz, Britten and Mäntyjärvi as well as selected folk songs and modern pop songs are planned. The choir's unusual way of replacing instruments with vocal harmonies, as in "Take on Me" and "Bicycle Race", gives the performance a fresh, special charm.
Participation is free for anyone interested, but donations are requested at the exit. This support helps to secure the “Loburg Organ Summer” series in the future. Events like these are of great importance to the local cultural scene and contribute significantly to enriching the community.
Choir community and commitment
Furthermore, the commitment of the Otto Schott Choir is not only reflected in concerts, but also in social projects and charity events. Every year they take part in competitions and perform concerts on the third weekend of Advent in and around Jena. The choir work is also characterized by leisure activities, such as beach volleyball tournaments and rehearsal weekends, which strengthen team cohesion. Information and support for amateur choirs can also be found on the Amateur Music Portal, which provides many tips for organization and networking.
Overall, the second concert evening of the “Loburg Organ Summer” promises unforgettable musical enjoyment and an invitation to everyone to feel at home in the choral society. So if you don't have any plans yet, you shouldn't miss this event - a really good deal for your heart and soul!
