District council approves budget for 2025: savings and changes!

In a landmark meeting on June 26, 2025, the district council approved the budget for the current year. With 22 changes resulting in savings of €1.27 million, the new plan includes both reductions and a small increase. 21 items were cut, while only one point was increased, as Meetingpoint reports.

What is particularly interesting is that a blocking notice has been introduced for the staffing plan. This means that changes to staffing requirements are being held back for the time being. A separate meeting to discuss the 18 new positions in the budget in detail will be announced after the summer break for anyone interested.

budget at the federal level

Bundestag reported.

The living space situation also remains a central issue here. The federal government is planning targeted measures to increase the economy's potential growth to above one percent. Comprehensive structural reforms and shorter approval procedures are necessary to counteract the ongoing weak growth, as the Federal Government states.

Investments and outlook

Some of the planned measures include, among other things, a “booster” for depreciation of 30 percent annually on equipment investments, which should apply until the end of 2027. These incentives are intended not only to strengthen Germany as a business location, but also to offer security for companies and jobs.

Overall, the federal government will forego new debt of 51.3 billion euros in 2025, which will remain below the permitted net borrowing. These measures and financial framework conditions are crucial to get growth going again and sustainably improve the quality of life.

With the decisions at the district level and the developments at the federal level, it is clear: There is a lot to be done. Those responsible for politics are called upon to make the budget more efficient and to set the course for a prosperous future.
