New dentists in sight: scholarships awarded for Jerichower Land!
The Jerichower Land district council has set itself an ambitious goal: In order to ensure dental care in the region, scholarships are awarded for dental students. Meetingpoint JL reports that District Administrator Steffen Burchhardt can report four new applicants for the scholarship program. This is a promising development, as five scholarship holders have already been signed up, some of whom are already well advanced in their studies. In the not too distant future, more precisely in two years, the first new dentists could be available in Jerichower Land.
A particular focus is on financial support for aspiring dentists. The district has established itself as a new cooperation partner of the Saxony-Anhalt Association of Statutory Health Insurance Dentists (KZV LSA). KZV Sachsen-Anhalt highlights that up to four scholarships will be awarded for the years 2024 and 2025. The scholarship holders receive 800 euros per month and are obliged to work in Jerichower Land after completing their studies. Particularly interesting: If you have already started your studies, the funding can be up to 1,500 euros per month, spread over the remaining years of study.
The scholarship is aimed at students who are enrolled either at a German university or at the renowned university in Pécs, Hungary, which has a close cooperation with the KZV LSA. This initiative is part of the larger scholarship program “Study dentistry – even without a 1.0” that KZV LSA launched. In Saxony-Anhalt, the shortage of dentists is an urgent problem that leads to supply bottlenecks. The scholarship program will be financially supported until 2025 in order to attract urgently needed young talent.

There are a few general conditions for interested students: The application deadline for the scholarships ends on September 30, 2024, and applications can only be submitted via the Interamt platform under ID 1150941. If you have any questions, you can contact the district administration directly.
With up to 10 new scholarships in Saxony-Anhalt every year from 2025, the future could improve significantly for many aspiring dentists. A degree from the University of Pécs not only offers the academic title “dr. med. dent. (D.M.D.)”, but also the opportunity to receive support during your studies.
