Rotary Club supports young talent: €1,425 for the Red Cross!
An evening full of music and solidarity - that's how you could describe the Rotary Club's recent event in Cologne. The Rotary Club raised an impressive sum of €1,425.30 with a musical evening led by the medical band “Schmerzlos”. This generous donation has now been officially handed over to the board of the DRK regional association.
Ulrike Rasch and Constanze Nolte from the Rotary Club accepted the symbolic check, while Andy Martius, chairman of the DRK regional association, praised the use of the funds. “We are very grateful for the support, because this donation will make a decisive contribution to encouraging young people to volunteer and make important purchases,” says Martius. This statement underlines the urgency with which such support is needed to maintain the DRK's important work in the region. Of course, a big thank you also goes to the guests and organizers who contributed to the success of the event with their participation. Every euro counts!
Rotary International – A global community
Rotary International, founded in Chicago in 1905 by Paul P. Harris, is one of the largest service organizations in the world. The mission is clear: “Serving others, promoting integrity and global understanding, friendship and peace through the community of business, professional and community leaders.” This organization works tirelessly to make a positive impact in the community and is committed to the areas of peace, health, education and environmental protection. Over 46,000 member clubs in more than 200 countries with a total of 1.4 million members demonstrate the immense network that Rotary International has created.
One of the best-known initiatives is the PolioPlus program, which has been helping to combat polio since 1985. By 2011, over USD 900 million had been made available for this purpose - an impressive example of international cooperation. Rotary also supports various programs such as Interact for Youth and Rotaract for Young Adults, which emphasizes the importance of education and community work.
Commitment at local level
Through its fundraising campaigns and events, the Rotary Club in Cologne shows how important the local community is for the international network. The evening with the band “Schmerzlos” is just one of many initiatives designed to raise funds and awareness for volunteer work. The support of the DRK by the Rotary Club is further proof that we can achieve a lot together. The commitment ranges from supporting local projects to promoting volunteer work, which has a direct impact on the living environment of citizens.
In conclusion, such evenings not only provide entertainment, but also send a strong signal of solidarity and community. As hands are shaken for work in the service of society, valuable friendships and better cooperation for the future are formed.
