A disturbing traffic accident occurred in the early hours of August 15, 2025 on the A2 motorway near Schermen in Jerichower Land. At 1:41 a.m., a 49-year-old Audi driver in the left lane in the direction of Hanover veered off the road to the right for unknown reasons and collided with a van in the middle lane. The violent collision involved two other vehicles: a truck that was transporting furniture parts and frozen pizza. The accident caused massive traffic disruption as two lanes had to be closed for accident recording, rescue and cleaning.
Three people were seriously injured in the tragic incident. In addition to the Audi driver, a 42-year-old passenger and the 63-year-old driver of the van were among the injured who were immediately taken to nearby hospitals in an ambulance. After the collision, the Audi and the van went out of control and crashed into the truck in the right lane, causing parts of the load to spread across the road. The rescue work was difficult, which extended the closures and diverted traffic to the left of the accident site, as tag24.de reported.
