Sustainability in professional sports

Children and young people from cotton-growing regions in India play a central role here. You build social relationships and learn how important environmental protection is. The goal is to support small farmers in India in switching to organic cotton. Over the next three years, they will receive support through purchase guarantees, training in sustainable farming practices and access to improved seeds. The clubs purchase the cotton from this project for their merchandise items and thus ensure better educational prospects for children and young people in disadvantaged communities, especially for girls and young women.
This combination of enjoyment and responsible behavior could herald a new era in professional sports. 1. FC Magdeburg and other clubs show that not only the game but also the use of resources plays an important role. We can only hope that such innovative approaches continue to be celebrated and supported.
