Home Days 2025: Discover culture, cacti and history in Ravelin 2!
There is great anticipation for the Magdeburg Cultural and Local History Association's Home Days 2025. From theAugust 15th to 17th, 2025The historic Ravelin 2 fortress at Maybachstrasse 8 is transformed into a living showcase for the city's history and the various facets of the homeland. Over200 volunteer members14 specialist and interest groups will present their work and offer insights into topics such as local history, culture, nature and technology. Admission is free and the physical well-being of visitors is taken care of People's voice reported.
The event will be on Friday at4 p.mceremoniously opened with a greeting. Martin Müller provides musical accompaniment to the opening ceremony on the accordion. Away5 p.mVisitors can take part in a public training in HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts), which is one of the special attractions of the Heimattage.
An exciting program for everyone
The exhibitions open on the following Saturday11 a.m, and visitors can look forward to an exciting lecture by Fynn Sand1 p.mwhich highlights the “technological-tactical development of land warfare – from marching boots to drones”. Also around3 p.mThe German Cactus Society, Magdeburg local group “Hermann Gruson”, presents interesting aspects about the history and work of the cactus and succulent group.
Sunday offers further highlights. Deliverers reopen the exhibitions11 a.m, followed by a lecture by Valeska Dressler about “Why you should visit other fortresses!” The conclusion is a lecture by Jürgen Beining3 p.m, who provides insights into the history of the postcard and the work of his group.
The venue and its meaning
The Ravelin 2 fortress, one of the best-preserved elements of the Prussian fortress of Magdeburg, was built in the mid-19th century. It offers the perfect setting for the local history days, which are organized by numerous groups, including the monument preservation interest group, the Magdeburg Fortress specialist group and many other specialist groups. The highlights include exhibitions with tin figures, rare minerals and numerous cacti, which are presented by the volunteer members Meeting point Magdeburg.
