Cultural hit parade: Exciting events in Magdeburg on September 3rd!
An exciting Wednesday is ahead! On September 3, 2025, Magdeburg residents will have the opportunity to attend interesting events and explore exciting topics. The local cultural venues invite you to a varied program that has something to suit every interest.
There will be a reading by Christian Dittloff at the Literaturhaus Magdeburg at 7 p.m. Under the title “Imprinting. Reflecting on Masculinity,” Dittloff deals with identity and the patriarchal structures of our society. This event is not only a deep reflection on masculinity, but also speaks to the inner processes of self-exploration. Dittloff brings in his experiences from childhood and youth and highlights violent role models that many people know from pop culture. The event takes place in collaboration with the Competence Center for Gender-Equal Child and Youth Welfare Saxony-Anhalt e.V. and promises to stimulate the audience's thoughts. Further information about the reading can be found on the website of the Literaturhaus Magdeburg.
Literature and music in a charming atmosphere
For those who are interested in the history of the children of occupation, the Magdeburg City Library is offering Sophie Hubbe's reading from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Her book “Memories of an Unwanted Generation” addresses the experiences and search for identity that many of these children’s descendants go through. This reading is not only literary, but also provides a deep insight into a time that is often little discussed. It is part of a larger project that deals with the past and its impact on the present. Detailed information can be found on the Memories of an Unwanted Generation page.
Music lovers will get their money's worth at Henning Netzold's live performance at Café Treibgut. From 7:00 p.m. he will entertain guests with hat concerts on the banks of the Elbe. His own interpretations of well-known songs promise an entertaining evening outdoors, while other interesting events take place at the Magdeburg Art Museum and other locations in the city.
More exciting activities
The additional events of the day also include art evenings, guided tours and exciting exhibitions. The discovery tour of the Westfriedhof from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. offers insights into the city's history and the lives of important personalities. Likewise, at 7:00 p.m. the history and development of the art collection in the art museum will be presented by Prof. Dr. Annegret Laabs illuminated.
