Magdeburg goes creative into the fall: cycling day and art enjoyment!
The first signs of autumn are already noticeable in Magdeburg, although the sun continues to shine and the temperatures remain warm. In the city's shop windows, warm clothing and autumnal pumpkin decorations attract attention and get people in the mood for the months ahead.
While some are preparing for autumn, the author still has the idea of enjoying the last days of summer with her best friend in her head. Trips to picturesque beaches, charming restaurants and small, hidden places are on her agenda. Summer is expected to last until October before the cool season arrives.
Creative diversity in the art museum
In the Our Dear Women Monastery Art Museum today everything revolves around the building material concrete, which is interpreted artistically and architecturally in the exhibition “Opération Béton”. The exhibition is open Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on weekends from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., which attracts many art enthusiasts.
In addition to this main exhibition, visitors can also expect an impressive video installation that illuminates various facets of nature. Under the title “Natures/Natures” by Florian Fischer and Johannes Krell, it addresses the challenges and beauties of our environment. Shown include the short film “Still Life,” which takes an exciting look at the transformation of natural spaces, as well as the video works “Cold Valley” and “Umbra,” which deal with man-made environmental damage and optical phenomena in nature. The introduction to these fascinating works begins at 7 p.m.
Diverse events for everyone
But that's not all: from 8 p.m., an even more in-depth look at the works of art will be offered on a guided tour through the exhibition "NAH & FAR. Stones, fish, paths, flowers, clouds." At 9:30 p.m., guests can immerse themselves in the creative world of Hartwig Ebersbach. Finally, the sculpture park with the motto “Nature in Sculpture” will also become an experience for art lovers at 11 p.m.
In addition, film fans can enjoy a selection of short films from the renowned Oberhausen Film Festival from 7 p.m. to midnight, which round off the evening in the art museum. For something a little different from art, the various information stands at the Cycling Day on the Old Market, which takes place today from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., also provide the opportunity to find out about various bicycle discussions and enjoy music.
For some time now, Magdeburg has been providing joy and inspiration among its citizens with its creative area and various events. If you can't make it to stop by today, you can look forward to the coming weeks, as the art museum continues to offer a great program that both stimulates the senses and enriches the mind. Further details can be found on the art museum's website, where everything you need to know about the exhibitions and events on site Events calendar is to be discovered.
