MWG and 1. FC Magdeburg: Strong partnership for the region!

In Magdeburg the signs point to continuity and cooperation. The MWG housing cooperative has extended its partnership with 1. FC Magdeburg for another three years. Thomas Fischbeck, spokesman for the MWG board, emphasizes the importance of reliability and continuity in this connection. Martin Geisthardt, the club's commercial director, emphasizes that MWG is a reliable partner who shares common values such as regionality, cohesion and social responsibility. This partnership is also reflected in the MWG family block, which remains an integral part of the 1. FC Magdeburg stadium. 1. FC Magdeburg also congratulates MWG on its new headquarters, the MWG Forum, and wishes the team much success.

With almost 16,000 members, the MWG is one of the largest housing cooperatives in Saxony-Anhalt and looks after around 10,000 apartments in the city. But the MWG is not only active in the housing sector, but is also involved in social and cultural projects that contribute to strengthening the regional community. Another highlight is the MWG Forum, the planning of which began in November 2022, before the foundation stone was laid. This new office building will create a meeting place for MWG members and promote interest in cooperatives.

The MWG Forum: A place to meet

The MWG Forum is being built on the corner of Julius-Bremer-Straße and Breiter Weg and is intended to unite various MWG branches under one roof. This includes the savings institution, real estate partner, association, foundation and technical management. The construction is being carried out by Toepel Bauunternehmung GmbH, with the shell construction work being completed in February 2024. The expansion work is currently in full swing. The planned office building comprises twelve floors with a staggered floor that will be used as an event and meeting room. What is particularly pleasing is that DKB AG has already been secured as a tenant for two floors. The planned move-in date is set for April 2025. This not only represents a benefit for the MWG, but also for the entire community.

Nowadays, housing cooperatives like MWG are more important than ever. They not only offer housing, but also a strong community and social responsibility. The article on Haufe highlights the international perspective of the housing industry and shows how crucial the work of cooperatives is for society. With its broad commitment, the MWG sets an example for sustainable urban development and social fairness.
