Missing girl Charlotte: Police ask for your help!
On the evening of July 11, 2025, a girl named Charlotte left her home around 8:00 p.m. and has been missing ever since. The state government of Saxony-Anhalt reports this in a current press release. The police have already checked several known whereabouts and contact persons, but without success.
Charlotte, who is about 175 cm tall, has a strong build and is described as having long dark hair, is dependent on medication that she does not have with her. At the time of her disappearance she was wearing a light sweater, dark sweatpants and dark blue shoes. The police are therefore asking for information about the girl's whereabouts and encouraging citizens to contact the Mansfeld-Südharz police station on (03475) 670-293. A public search via social networks or private internet platforms should not be published in order not to endanger the investigation.
Missing persons cases in Germany
What does it even mean to be missing? According to the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), a person is considered missing if they are inexplicably absent from their location and there is an assumed risk to life or limb. In particular, minors like Charlotte are considered missing if they have left their usual circle of life and their whereabouts are unknown. In such cases it can also happen that they are taken into state care.
In 2024, around 18,100 children were reported missing in Germany, 96.7% of which were identified by the end of the year. In total, almost 10,000 people are registered as missing, and around 200 to 300 new cases are added every day, with the majority of the missing people being male and a significant proportion of those affected being young people and children. The most common reasons for disappearances are personal crises or difficulties in the social environment, such as heartbreak or problems at school.
Search measures in an emergency
In cases of acute danger, the police have the opportunity to carry out comprehensive search measures, often involving the riot police and emergency services. In such cases, digital traces, such as cell phone data, are used to locate the whereabouts of the missing person. International searches can also be carried out if the case extends beyond national borders.
After reporting a missing person case, the police record the most important data about the person concerned. The investigation is then carried out in close cooperation with the BKA, which acts as the central contact point for international requests. It is often a great burden for the relatives of missing people when their loved ones are far away or even in danger.
The investigation of missing person cases has a high success rate in Germany. Around 80% of cases are resolved within a month, but around 3% of missing people remain untraceable for more than a year. These statistics illustrate how important it is for police, relatives and the public to work together to help missing people as quickly as possible.
The situation is tense and nerve-racking for Charlotte's family. The police are doing everything they can to find the girl as quickly as possible and are relying on the public's help. Every clue can be crucial. If you have any information or have seen Charlotte, we ask that you contact police immediately.
