Raid in Mansfeld: Large cannabis plantation with 550 plants discovered!

In a small district of Mansfeld, an illegal cannabis breeding plantation was discovered on July 9, 2025, which the police could find in the act. This search took place on the basis of a judicial decision and brought a large drug camp to light. A total of around 550 cannabis plants were secured in various growth stages, and the officers also found 22 kilograms of consumable cannabis and numerous utensils for growing and processing the drugs. Mobile phones and cash also changed the owner - all of the evidence for a suspected drug trafficking. Three men from Albania aged 27, 29 and 42 were temporarily arrested, while the public prosecutor has applied for ceremony. The suspects should be shown to a judge shortly, and the investigation will continue in the Central Criminal Service of the PI Halle (Saale) because there is suspicion of trading cannabis products. Over 20 emergency services of the state riot police were involved in this campaign, which shows how serious the authorities are against drug crime.

Now you wonder what the current legal situation on cannabis in Germany says. With the new legislation, which has been in force since April 2024, adults are allowed to own and grow cannabis under certain conditions. This includes carrying up to 25 grams of dried cannabis and possession of up to 50 grams at home. Private individuals are allowed to grow up to three plants for their own use. Good business could make up for those who adhere to the new regulations, because those who go beyond the permitted quantities or act outside the legal framework must expect legal consequences. The possession of more than 25 grams is already classified as an administrative offense, and from an amount of 30 grams in public space, criminal consequences can be expected.

A look at cannabis culture in Germany

But what about general consumption and the attitudes of Germans to cannabis? Figures from the market research company show that cannabis in Germany is still the most conscious drug. Over 5% of the adult population, about 265 million people worldwide, consume this drug, and almost every third adult in Germany has tried cannabis at least once. Consumption is particularly common among young adults: over 40% have already had experience with the drug.

  • Germany is planning a controlled levy to adults.
  • The market for medical cannabis is growing steadily.
  • Legalization could bring significant tax revenue to the state.
  • It remains to be seen whether this will increase consumption.

The growing acceptance and partial legalization suggests that dealing with cannabis will change in the coming years. Medically prescribed cannabis also shows its effect in the treatment of chronic diseases, anxiety disorders and more - one more reason to look at the topic not only in the legal but also in a social context. If you visualize the development of cannabis culture in Germany, it is clear: there is something! The end goal is a regulated and responsible approach to this long -discussed topic.

But the events in Mansfeld once again illustrate that there are also dark pages that need to be combated while society moves in a new direction.
