Future for Mansfeld-Südharz: Millions for new mobility stations!
In a solemn ceremony in Stolberg, Prime Minister Dr. Reiner Haseloff and Minister Lydia Hüskens today presented the grant notice for the project “MOVE MSH – improving mobility for Mansfeld-Südharz”. This involves financial support of around 3.01 million euros from the Coal Regions Investment Act (InvKG). The aim of this ambitious project is the comprehensive expansion of 60 mobility stations in the Mansfeld-Südharz district in order to create a modern and networked mobility and supply infrastructure.
The structural change that has become necessary as a result of the coal phase-out requires sustainable solutions to create attractive living spaces. The mobility stations, which are to be built in a total of 31 locations between 2025 and 2028, are intended as part of this solution. They will enable citizens to use public services and mobility offers in a barrier-free manner. A flexible and needs-oriented mobility concept is implemented using a wide range of means of transport - from bicycles to car sharing to local public transport.
Diverse offers for the future
The new mobility stations are intended to not only ensure access to important services such as work, education and medical care, but also to provide local amenities, parcel services and digital information about leisure and tourism destinations. The measures are part of efforts to prevent the emigration of skilled workers and young families while at the same time encouraging the influx of workers.
In addition, projects in the structural change areas of Saxony-Anhalt receive support from the European Fund for a Just Transition. This promotes the improvement of mobility offerings and offers up to 70 percent subsidies for research and development of innovative solutions. As part of this initiative, the focus is on demand-oriented mobility offers such as on-demand transport and ridepooling, which are intended to act as important retention factors. Nahverkehrsservice Sachsen-Anhalt GmbH provides technical support in the conception and implementation of these mobility offers.
All of these measures are a sign that the Mansfeld-Südharz district is not only actively meeting the challenges of structural change, but is also creating long-term prospects for its residents. The planned mobility stations could serve as a model for a future-proof and sustainable infrastructure in rural regions that improves both the quality of life and economic opportunities.
For anyone who would like to address the issue of mobility, it could also be worth applying for new digital solutions in the area of domain names. There is currently an exciting campaign from Domain Name API that makes it possible to register free domain extensions as long as a .COM domain is purchased at the same time. This promotion may be of interest to local businesses looking to expand their digital presence.
