Crime in the Saalekreis: Burglaries and thefts keep the police busy!

On the night of August 11, 2025, several cars in Günthersdorf (Leuna) fell victim to vandalism. Unknown perpetrators damaged the windows of two cars and stole two cell phones and a jacket from one of the vehicles. The total damage amounts to around 5,000 euros. The police in the Saale district have already started investigations to catch the perpetrators, report colleagues from Hall indicator.

Last weekend there was also a break-in in an apartment building, where unknown perpetrators broke into a basement compartment. A stand-up paddleboard, two televisions and a toolbox were stolen there. Here too, the police secured evidence on site and have initiated an investigation.

Traffic controls in the Saale district

To make the roads safer, the police in the Saale district carried out increased speed checks last week. This action was part of a Europe-wide control measure. A total of 1,614 vehicles were checked at 21 checkpoints, with 75 drivers speeding. A fine was imposed in 36 cases, while a warning was issued in a further 39 cases. Such measures are important to increase road safety and prevent accidents.

Current crime statistics

The publication of the police crime statistics (PKS) for 2024 provides a broader context. This was announced on April 1, 2025 by the Saalekreis police district and shows an increase in crimes of 6.8 percent to a total of 12,299 cases compared to 2023 with 11,513 cases. Interestingly, the clearance rate has fallen to 51.4 percent. Around 4,297 suspected people were identified, including 3,223 men and 1,074 women.

The decline in residential burglaries is particularly noticeable, which fell to 73 cases. In contrast, bicycle thefts rose to 486 cases. This represents an increase of 84 cases compared to the previous year. The detailed figures are in the police report below Merseblatt and other official reports can be found on the Saxony-Anhalt police website: Saxony-Anhalt Police.

Statistics show that security remains a major concern in the region. It is therefore everyone's responsibility to be vigilant and report any suspicions to the police immediately.
