Visitors who bring their own picnic basket and blanket are welcome to enjoy the stars in a friendly atmosphere. The Perseids, also affectionately known as the “Tears of Lawrence,” are one of the most prolific meteor showers and promise up to100 shooting stars per hour, especially at the peak of their maximum on the night ofAugust 12th.
