Complete closure of the L 50: renovation between Domnitz and Dornitz started!

In the coming weeks, state road (L) 50 between Domnitz and Dornitz will be completely renovated. Work will begin on Monday June 30th and is expected to last until the end of July. The affected route covers 1.7 kilometers and the L 50 will be completely closed during this time. Diversion options are available, namely via the district road (K) 2135 in the direction of Neutz, the L 156 to Dößel and via Garsena back to the L 50. Alternatively, the detour via the A 14 is available, whereby the Halle-Trotha and Könnern junctions can be used. The state of Saxony-Anhalt is providing a total of 2.3 million euros for the renovation project in order to improve the road infrastructure and thus increase traffic safety, as HalleLife.de reports.

The renovation of the L 50 is part of a larger initiative to improve the road networks in Saxony-Anhalt. This year, among other things, the L 145 from Kaltenmark to Plötz and the L 172 from Schafstädt to the old district border will be renovated. Before construction begins, the population is informed about current developments so that all road users can plan well.

Expansion for the high-tech park

Another exciting aspect of transport infrastructure development is the construction work on the L 50 in connection with the High-Tech Park (HTP) in Magdeburg. Two construction site access roads are to be built here, which will also create the basis for future commercial developments. The state of Saxony-Anhalt is investing around four million euros in this measure, which will begin on August 16, 2024. According to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Digital Saxony-Anhalt, the project includes the four-lane expansion of the L 50 almost one and a half kilometers as well as the construction of cycle paths and turning lanes.

The construction work will also involve the complete closure of the L 50, which will require a large-scale diversion for national traffic. These measures are crucial to improving the connectivity of the High-Tech Park and promoting future economic activities in the region.

Future prospects and infrastructure development

The importance of municipal road infrastructure is highlighted under the project of the German Institute for Standardization and Research (Difu). The inventory and condition of municipal roads is recorded here in order to identify potential needs for expansion. This includes both quantitative and qualitative aspects of road network design and aims to precisely estimate the overall financial requirements for maintenance and development measures.

The investments and financial resources required for the construction and maintenance of the roads are closely related to the state's current allocations and the municipalities' income from road expansion contributions. This information is crucial for further developing the infrastructure within Saxony-Anhalt and increasing traffic safety. The renovation of the L 50 is just one component in a comprehensive development concept that is intended to benefit the region in the long term.
