Saxony-Anhalt is looking for 364 new teachers – apply now!
In a current step to strengthen the education sector, Saxony-Anhalt has advertised 364 new positions for teachers. This is part of a comprehensive personnel offensive that aims to strengthen the state's schools with staff and prepare them for the future. Skilled workers are particularly in demand in special schools, secondary schools and community schools. Newcomers also have the opportunity to apply for the advertised positions dubisthalle.de reported.
Of the 364 positions advertised, 327 are at general schools and 37 at vocational schools. A look at the distribution of positions shows: 63 teachers are needed at special schools, while 114 positions are available at secondary schools. There are also 49 positions at community schools and 47 at high schools. Particularly worth mentioning are 25 G positions that come with allowances based on special needs. The application deadlines are clearly defined: for general schools the deadline is July 31, 2025, for vocational schools it is June 30, 2025. Applications are made via the online portal matorix.
Additional positions for teaching staff
As part of the personnel offensive, a further round of advertisements for teaching staff will also be launched in order to further improve the situation in schools. A total of 95 positions at general education schools are to be filled, with the focus on primary, special and secondary schools. The deadline for these applications is May 13, 2025. Here too, applications must be submitted via the matorix portal, as mb.sachsen-anhalt.de noted.
Shortage of teachers and the use of assistants
However, the situation at schools in Saxony-Anhalt is tense, especially at secondary schools, where there is a shortage of teachers. To meet this challenge, the country plans to use teaching assistants. A new staff category, the so-called “pedagogical teaching aids”, is to be created. The aim is to reduce the number of lesson cancellations and relieve the burden on teachers. The climatic conditions for the assistants are also clear: 60% of them should be used in teaching and 40% in the support area.
To support this initiative, 200 additional staff will be hired at secondary, community and comprehensive schools. Applicants are required to have at least three years of experience in educational work with children. These assistants are financed through money that is not used due to unfilled teaching positions. Education Minister Eva Feußner (CDU) has already announced the first missions for the new school year in August tagesschau.de reported.
These measures are a clear sign that Saxony-Anhalt is striving to actively improve the educational situation in the state while at the same time taking the needs of schools into account.
