Debate about right-wing radicalism: Invitation to an exciting evening in Niederelbert!

Amid the political turbulence in Germany, which is becoming increasingly clear, the Montabaur Land SPD local association is organizing an evening to discuss the ongoing challenges of the political landscape. On Friday, November 21, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. in the Elberthalle in Niederelbert, more precisely in the small hall, the association invites you to an event with the topic “Germany is tipping towards the right wing – what to do now!” a. This issue is particularly explosive as right-wing influence in Germany has increased in recent years, as blick-aktuell.de reports.

The event begins with a welcome by the President of the State Parliament, Hendrik Hering. The extremism researcher Prof. Dr. Matthias Quent from Magdeburg-Stendal University will give a lecture that will certainly offer valuable insights into the current situation and possible solutions. A discussion after the lecture allows participants to contribute their own perspectives and questions. The evening will be accompanied musically by the well-known songwriter Manfred Pohlmann, who has an impressive presence in the music scene with over 3,330 concerts in his career.

Invitation to participate in the discussion

For anyone interested in finding out more about the event, the contacts Erik Walter at ErikSPDWalter@gmx.de and Uli Schmidt at uli@kleinkunst-mons-tabor.de are available. The commitment of the SPD local association shows that the citizens of Montabaur want to be actively involved in the discussion about political developments. At a time when society is polarized, such a forum for expressing opinions and finding common solutions makes more than just sense.

But what is actually happening in other parts of the world while we grapple with our political reality here? When you look at Antarctica, you realize that this fascinating continent without a permanent human population represents an important ecosystem in our global climate. The continent has an area of about 14 million square kilometers and is almost completely covered with ice. Studies show that temperatures in western Antarctica have increased noticeably in recent decades, which could have long-term consequences not only for the region but also for the global climate. Wikipedia reports that Antarctica holds many natural resources, but international treaties prohibit them from being exploited.

This geographically and climatically unique region not only has abundant wildlife, including freshwater springs, penguins and whales, but is also visited by approximately 105,000 tourists annually.

This brings us full circle: whether in the Elberthalle in Niederelbert or in Antarctica – current challenges require committed discussion. The evening on November 21st could be the first step in an engaged discussion about our future.
