Humanas collects 748 euros for children at the Anne Frank” houses!

A great campaign recently caused joy in the Altmark: As part of the charity campaign “Lauft bei Humanas” a remarkable 748.50 euros were collected for the “Anne Frank” children's and youth homes of the German Red Cross (DRK) in Tangerhütte. Thomas Gmell, the nursing service manager at the Humanas Tangerhütte residential park, and Christian Blumrodt, a dedicated nursing specialist from the sister facility in Griebener, proudly presented the check.

But how did this amount come about? The campaign, which took place in spring 2025 and was the fifth of its kind, mobilized employees and trainees from the Humanas residential parks in Grieben, Tangerhütte and Tangermünde. Together they got off to a good start: in sporting activities, they ran and cycled a total of an impressive 1,447 kilometers on the bike and 100 kilometers on foot. The foundation received 1.50 euros for every kilometer walked and 50 cents for every kilometer cycled.

Insights into the projects

The funds collected specifically benefit the children and young people of the DRK Anne Frank Houses. These facilities offer a wide range of services, including residential groups and family support. In doing so, they make an important contribution to supporting young people whose opportunities are often limited. “We are proud to be able to contribute to this,” says Gmell. The commitment and energy that the teams showed during the campaign is commendable and shows how much passion goes into these projects.

The Humanas Foundation, which is behind this campaign, aims to help families whose strengths have reached their limits. All income goes entirely to supporting projects and institutions that benefit the community. Donations to the foundation are also tax deductible - an additional incentive for those who want to support regional commitment. Anyone interested in the foundation's work can find an overview of the supported institutions on the website and find out about the possibility of making donations.

“It is important to us to actively shape the future of young people,” explains the Humanas Foundation on its website. The commitment of the residential parks and the know-how of the nursing staff are a perfect mix that not only strengthens the community, but also enables new, valuable projects.

Overall, this campaign shows once again how much potential there is in collective effort. At Humanas we don't just run and cycle, we also collect money for a good cause. One can only hope that such initiatives will be repeated soon! The more people are persuaded to take part, the greater the help can be for families and children in need - there is really something to be said!
