Over 10,200 speeders in Saxony-Anhalt: Police take stock of the controls!

Last week, the Saxony-Anhalt police carried out a comprehensive speed check that took place from August 4th to 10th, 2025. Dizzying numbers were recorded: a total of around 445,000 vehicles came under the microscope, and more than 10,200 drivers were driving too fast on the roads. Of course, such actions are long overdue, as inappropriate speed is one of the main causes of traffic accidents with serious personal injuries. As n-tv reports, over 1,000 police officers were on duty to increase road safety.

The checkpoint on the B 100 near Landsberg was particularly noticeable, where 237 speeding violations were detected. The highest value was alarming: a vehicle was measured at 205 km/h on the A 38 near Allstedt, while only 120 km/h is permitted there. Another driver also didn't exactly cover himself with glory at 149 km/h at a permitted speed of 70 km/h.

Excessive speed and its consequences

The traffic accident statistics for 2024 clearly show that excessive speed is a serious danger on our roads. Of a total of 105 fatal accidents, 39 were due to this problem. This should give us all food for thought, not least given the dramatic consequences that such breaches can have.
