Ukrainian in Saxony-Anhalt: Record number of jobs for war refugees!

In Saxony-Anhalt, a remarkable increase in Ukrainian employed people is shown. Since the previous year, 2,000 more Ukrainians have been active in jobs, which results in a total of 7,300 employees from Ukraine. Minister of Labor Petra Grimm-Benne (SPD) emphasizes this progress in a statement. Many of the new workers are women with children who are involved in various industries.

The Ukrainian employees are particularly involved in the processing of businesses, in trade, health and social affairs as well as in the construction and hospitality industry. Economic services, such as temporary work and horticulture, are also popular areas. A total of over 40,700 war refugees from Ukraine were recorded in Saxony-Anhalt. These include around 3,200 children of kindergarten and 7,400 school -age children, which clearly underlines the need for support offers.

integration and training offers

The integration measures for the Ukrainian refugees are essential. Grimm-Benne is therefore planning a targeted training campaign that aims to address 1,000 young people and their families. This initiative is intended to provide special information about the German dual training system and reduce linguistic hurdles. Because the challenges are diverse: inadequate childcare offers and bureaucratic hurdles in the recognition of foreign degrees make many refugees difficult to go into the labor market.

A current survey shows that around 94 percent of the currently non -employed refugees need relief when looking for a job and almost two thirds of adult refugees live in fixed partnerships. These numbers give an insight into the life situation of the refugees. A large number of women, at least 75 percent of adult Ukrainian refugees, are aiming for vocational training or studying in Germany. At the same time, 70 percent of integration courses are completing - an important step towards better integration into the company and labor market.

challenges in labor market integration

Despite positive tendencies, the employment rate among the refugees who have come to Germany in February 2022 since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression on Ukraine has risen to 22 percent, but still far from the ideal value. Mainly due to childcare bottlenecks, women find a job as men much later. The challenge remains to create a tailor -made access that includes both information and support in the recognition of foreign degrees.

For many refugees, the search for a suitable apartment is also a challenge. Often the desire to stay in Germany in the long term reports, which makes integration and active participation in society all the more important. In view of the unimpeded refugee flows from Ukraine, politicians may not lose sight of the need for solutions for integration and support.

Overall, the situation of the Ukrainian refugees in Saxony-Anhalt embodies both signs of hope and serious challenges. The will for integration is there, now it is important to create the corresponding framework.
