The big sporting event of 2025 is just around the corner in Saxony-Anhalt! The Saxony-Anhalt State Sports Association, together with the Saxony-Anhalt Association of Sports Journalists and a jury of experts, will determine the title of “Athlete, Athlete and Team of the Year 2025”. The honor, which will take place on December 8, 2025 at the MDR State Broadcasting Center Saxony-Anhalt in Magdeburg, will be particularly exciting. Not only the award winners can be celebrated here, but also the talents of the future who will be honored at the “MDR Sports Aces of Tomorrow”.
Voting for the titles runs until November 16, 2025, 11:59 p.m. Sports enthusiasts can cast their votes online. The list of nominees includes ten women, ten men and twelve teams who have demonstrated their outstanding achievements at high-level competitions such as the World Games in Chengdu and the World Swimming Championships in Singapore. One Expert jury, which includes representatives of the state sports association and former competitive athletes, selected the candidates.
Looking back to 2024
A look back into the recent past: in 2024, the titles were awarded to the swimmer Isabel Gose, the swimmer Lukas Märtens and the SC Magdeburg handball team. Isabel Gose was able to claim an impressive fourth title in a row. There is great enthusiasm in the country, and the athletes from Saxony-Anhalt are showing impressive performances again this year.
The special thing about this election is that the results are determined half by expert voting and the other half by public voting. This means that every vote counts and all sports enthusiasts have the opportunity to support their favorite athletes.
