Creativity unfolds: Free drawing workshops in Wittenberg!
The drawing project “A city draws. Lutherstadt Wittenberg” will be continued this year with new workshops. From June 22nd to 29th, 2025, the Wittenberg city administration invites art lovers to free drawing courses led by renowned lecturers. Mayor Torsten Zubehör is pleased about the continuation of this exciting project, which was launched in 2024 and in which around 60 participants explored the public space through drawings. The results of the first phase of the project were presented last year at a vernissage on October 25th in empty shop windows in the city center, as MZ reports.
The workshops offer professional instruction and are designed for both beginners and advanced learners. These unique courses are led by Yadegar Asisi, Ulrike Kirchner, and Mario Stieber, among others. Participants have the opportunity to portray their favorite places in Wittenberg using multimedia double exposure technology, with all materials provided by the city administration. Anyone wishing to register can do so easily via email, and there is even a waiting list if interest exceeds the available spaces.
Diverse workshops and creative instructions
The workshops will take place in the city laboratory and start on June 22nd at 11 a.m. Depending on demand, courses are available for different age groups and experience levels. In addition to Yadegar Asisi, the lecturers also include Julie Böhm, Bärbel Mohaupt, Freya Partscht, Astrid Lesnik, and Filipe Pinheiro, who together bring the diversity of art and creative techniques into play, reports the Julie Böhm website.
Yadegar Asisi places great emphasis on promoting drawing as a valuable craft. His long-term goal is to bring drawing back into everyday school life. All of these initiatives are part of a broader movement aimed at integrating art and creativity into society and offering citizens new forms of expression.
A look into the future
The project will not only be continued in Wittenberg; Further events are also planned in Leipzig for 2025, followed by another stage in Pforzheim in 2026. The drawing project thus guarantees a sustainable strengthening of art funding in several cities.
For teachers who would like to bring such creative impulses into their lessons, the Art Teaching Ideas Platform could be a valuable resource. It offers a wealth of materials, templates and instructions on various art techniques that can be used in art lessons.
The drawing courses in Wittenberg are not only an opportunity to promote one's own artistic skills, but also a step towards a more culturally active community that values and lives art.
