Lions Club brings wine stand to Summer in the City” in Weyhe!

The Bremer Süd Lions Club is bringing a breath of fresh air to the “Summer in the City” events that take place in Weyhe with a wine sales stand. Even though the traditional wine festival on Henry-Wetjen-Platz is canceled this year, those responsible have found a great alternative to be active again. The reason for the cancellation of the popular festival is the construction work on the pitch, but the Lions are not letting this get them down and are adapting to the new circumstances.

In total, the Lions Club will be present at all six “Summer in the City” dates and will present themselves with a diverse range of wines. The wine stand will be open on July 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st and August 7th and will provide a convivial atmosphere. A particular focus is on supporting families in need. Part of the proceeds are used to provide financial assistance, for example for school trips or other necessary everyday expenses.

Long tradition in a new form

The Lions Club Wine Festival, which last took place in 2023 after a break due to the pandemic and with a ten-year tradition, was very popular and attracted many visitors. At this event, guests could not only enjoy wines, but also experience the conviviality of an organized party. Despite the new conditions, the club has shown a good knack for making the move to Leeste a profit.

For this year's "Summer in the City" events, the Lions Club has decided to offer around ten different German and international wines as well as sparkling drinks, although no food will be sold. The stand is supported by around 28 dedicated helpers who are ready to provide advice and support to both wine lovers and newcomers to the wine world.

Attractive events await

The events start at 5 p.m. and end around 10 p.m. Admission is free, which offers families and young people in particular an easy way to spend a relaxing evening. There is also a lot of music on offer: a varied program is planned for every date. From the legendary rock mix to local musicians who ensure a good atmosphere - no wish remains unfulfilled.

Speaking of new offerings: Accompanying the wines will also be Casa Pepa, which offers a variety of paellas. This means that culinary enjoyment is not neglected, even if the main focus is on the wines. The selection of restaurateurs has grown particularly this year, which only provides additional highlights. Expectations are high and the anticipation for the event is palpable in Weyhe.

However, not everything is new; The return to Kirchweyhe for the wine festival is not planned until further notice. Development in Leeste has proven successful and the Lions are more willing than ever to contribute to the local community.

Overall, the Lions Club's wine stand commitment promises an exciting alternative to the usual wine festival and not only brings wine lovers together, but also brings a piece of community feeling back to Weyhe.
