Robberies in the district: drunk drivers and stolen bicycles!
On November 8, 2025, several incidents occurred in the region around Bad Schmiedeberg, Gräfenhainichen and Wittenberg that brought the police to the scene. The darkness of the night brought not only peace but also some unpleasant surprises.
The theft of license plate plates is particularly noticeable in two cases. On Leipziger Straße in Bad Schmiedeberg, the car of a 42-year-old woman fell victim to the brazen perpetrators. Their license plates were stolen on the night of November 7th and 8th. The police immediately initiated an investigation and are hoping for information from the public in order to catch the perpetrator or perpetrators. Bicycle theft in Gräfenhainichen
Also on November 8th, but later in the day, a 67-year-old woman from Gräfenhainichen reported the loss of her beloved bicycle. Her black women's bike with a basket on the handlebars was reported stolen at 8 a.m. The theft took place on Gartenstrasse and the police have also started an investigation there. Bicycle thefts are currently very popular, and those affected are hoping for a prompt investigation.
Alcohol and drug driving accident
Another incident that caused a stir was a traffic accident that happened on Waldstrasse in Wittenberg at around 2:45 p.m. A 55-year-old Audi driver was involved in an accident with a blood alcohol level of 2.52 and damaged two parked vehicles and a tree. His driver's license was promptly revoked and an investigation was initiated for endangering road traffic and hit and run. Such incidents show once again how dangerous drinking and driving can be.
Not long after this incident, a 29-year-old Ford driver was stopped on Dessauer Strasse in Wittenberg. A drug test came back positive for cocaine, which also led to his immediate ban on further travel. A blood sample was also ordered here. It turns out that the police act rigorously when drug use is suspected.
Another questionable driver, a 54-year-old Skoda driver from Gerbisbach, was checked on November 9th around 11:15 a.m. and had a blood alcohol level of 1.26. He also had to give up his driver's license and is now part of criminal proceedings for drunk driving.
Conclusion and outlook
The incidents mentioned make it clear that security remains an important issue in the region. The police strive to prevent both theft and dangerous driving behavior and are in constant contact with citizens to keep them up to date on current developments such as hunting down thieves and road safety. With this in mind, we can only hope that those responsible will soon be held accountable and safety on our streets will be increased. Whether in Bad Schmiedeberg or Wittenberg – this concerns us all!
