From August 15th to 16th, 2025, the picturesque island of Stein in Wörlitzer Park will be the scene of an impressive spectacle. The historical significance of Wörlitz Park
Wörlitzer Park, considered the first English-style landscape park in Europe, attracts thousands of visitors every year. It was from 1764 under the leadership of Prince Leopold III. Friedrich Franz von Anhalt-Dessau designed and extends over 112 hectares. The first volcano spectacle took place on August 10, 1794, the prince's birthday, and has had a long history since then.
More recently, the volcano was reactivated in 2005 and an annual eruption staging in August has been planned since then. According to technical director Wolfgang Spyra, the demonstration is an illusion in which softwood is fired and lava is poured into Lake Wörlitz, without using real lava. It is important to know that for safety reasons no drone flights are permitted during the event.
