Bischofswerda celebrates summer cinema: it's getting colorful in the open air!

The cinema feeling is back in Bischofswerda! From now on, the B28 offers a total of six performances in the summer months, which are sure to be a hit for young and old alike. The Rainbow Association, in collaboration with the Steinhaus Bautzen, ensures a colorful film program reported.

The open-air cinema takes place on Thursdays, doors open at 8 p.m., and the films start as soon as it is dark enough. What’s special about it? If the weather doesn't cooperate, there is a weatherproof alternative: a marquee or the event room are available. With space for up to 100 people - and even more outdoors if necessary - there is a really good atmosphere here.

Films and programs

The film program leaves nothing to be desired and appeals to the audience with a colorful selection of topics. The first four films are:

• 3. Juli: „Alter weißer Mann“ – Eine deutsche Gesellschaftssatire mit Stars wie Jan Josef Liefers.
• 10. Juli: „Der Buchspazierer“ – Filmadaptation des Bestsellers von Carsten Henn.
• 24. Juli: „Der Geschmack der kleinen Dinge“ – Eine charmante französisch-japanische Komödie.
• 31. Juli: „Das Nonnenrennen“ – Eine amüsante französische Komödie über ein Radrennen mit Benediktinerinnen.

Admission is only six euros, and children up to 14 years old can even attend for free when accompanied by a legal guardian. To purchase tickets, film fans have to go to the box office, or they can conveniently reserve their seats by email or telephone.

Additional events

The summer program is enriched by an inclusive short film festival run by the Dresden association “Kino über Land”. This will take place on two dates: on July 16th at the inclusive summer festival in B28 and on August 23rd in the Eastclub as part of the Toen Festival. Both events promise a breath of fresh air and an entertaining short film experience feels good.

Another highlight in the B28 is the inclusive community theater “Die Schiebocker Stadtmusikanten”, which will celebrate its premiere on August 22, 2025. The B28 garden will then be transformed into a magical stage for the performances, which will also take place on August 24th and 30th as well as on August 29th as a school performance. This not only brings momentum to the culture, but also makes people want to enjoy shared experiences outdoors.

As part of the holiday program, the series of events at B28 offers a great opportunity for children and young people to get actively involved in a large excursion program and a carnival party. The B28 is the meeting point and contact point for everyone who wants to do something in Bischofswerda.
