What's new from the culture and events scene in Cologne? Orchestra leader Katharina Dickopf, artistic director Tomas Kreibich-Nawka and managing director Diana Wagner look ahead to the SNE's exciting new season. As the alles-lausitz.de reports, some highlights and real treats await visitors.
The premieres and events, which may even ensure a full calendar of events, begin on August 22nd and 23rd with the “Romanian Nights” as part of the Schmochtitz Music Festival. Shortly afterwards, the Old Town Festival in Bautzen follows on August 29th, where the audience is invited to join in with the dance offering “May I ask”. Another highlight is the honoring of the songwriter Gerhard “Gundi” Gundermann on August 30th at the Jakubzburg in Mortka.
New in the repertoire
The premieres on October 4th are also eagerly awaited: “The Architect's Bird” by Róża Domašcyna, with an enchanting composition by Christian Mietke, and “The Fisherwoman” by Emilie Mayer, which will be staged for the first time based on Goethe's original. The Christmas fairy tale “The Little Pancake” will finally celebrate its premiere on November 23rd.
And that wasn't all! Around the turn of the year, visitors can expect traditional New Year's Eve and New Year's concerts, which boast ballet and orchestra. A special highlight is the children's bird wedding, where the musical “The Sleeping Sand Mess” will be performed on January 16th. Two more premieres are coming up in January: “False Spiel” on January 10th (Lower Sorbian) and January 17th (Upper Sorbian).
A sophisticated overall package
The SNE orchestra will operate under the name “Sorbian Chamber Philharmonic” in the new season. With a moderate increase in ticket prices, which do not exceed two euros, an attractive offer is created for loyal visitors. With the “Ansambl subscription” or the “concert subscription”, those interested in culture can save 51 euros each on four events.
The idea of applying for the Röhrscheidtbastei as a wedding venue is also particularly exciting, which offers additional options for private celebrations. The premises are also rented to various organizations, which makes a further social contribution.
