Fire brigade training in Kamenz: heat exercises up to 400 degrees!

Exciting and unique training for firefighters is offered in Kamenz, which sets the bar high for fire drills. The fire container that is located here offers an area of 40 square meters and temperatures that can reach up to 400 degrees Celsius. These special exercises are not only a challenge, but also valuable preparation for real operations. The firefighters simulate various scenarios, including house fires and distribution box operations. The special feature: Only those wearing breathing apparatus are allowed into the hot container.

The practice times are short and sweet, lasting between 15 and 20 minutes, so that the firefighters can complete several runs at once. An exciting detail: Participants can proudly tell their families that they were in the hottest place in Lusatia - a real topic of conversation!

Preparation for real operations

The concept behind such exercises has proven particularly important in recent years. The proportion of fire operations in the fire brigade's total deployment volume has decreased. This makes it more difficult for younger firefighters to gain the necessary operational experience. This is where special fire training containers come into play, designed to close this gap. The training measures are designed to prepare respiratory protection wearers for challenging operations. An investment of 1.2 million euros was originally made in this project in the Free State of Bavaria, and the result speaks for itself: around 12,000 respiratory protection wearers have been trained since the project began in 2015.

The training units offer valuable insights into how fires progress and help participants to better assess dangerous situations. A solid-fired fire training container is used, which simulates the typical HEAT and smoke development of a room fire. This realistic firefighting, using self-contained respiratory protection, is essential for successful operational preparation. The continuation of the project is secured until 2026, which represents real relief for the fire departments in the region.

Individual training solutions

In addition to these exercises, GUARDIAN Fire Brigade Training, which has been active since 2018, offers individual training options for fire departments. Their focus is clearly on training outside the comfort zone to improve responders' decision-making abilities under pressure. Monthly, quarterly or annual training courses are on the program. Each unit is tailored to the specific needs of the respective fire department. The offers include:

  • Mayday- und Atemschutznotfalltraining
  • Such- und Rettungsszenarien
  • Taktik im Innenangriff
  • Sicherheitstruppkonzepte und -training
  • Einsatz der Wärmebildkamera
  • Erweiterte Erste Hilfe für den Feuerwehreinsatz

A new highlight is the hybrid emergency seminar in collaboration with JAMA emergency seminars, which includes respiratory protection emergency training and life-saving immediate measures. GUARDIAN stands out from other providers thanks to its modular and mobile training structure, because the trainers come directly to the fire departments.

These diverse offerings show once again how important training firefighters is. In an area where every second counts, good preparation helps to avoid serious mistakes and therefore save lives.

The fire departments, whether in Kamenz or elsewhere, do everything they can to train their emergency services in the best possible way and prepare them for emergencies!
