Hoyerswerda's knitting women donate 1,000 euros to KulturFabrik!
The Hoyerswerda knitting women have once again demonstrated their creative streak and donated! A donation of 1,000 euros will go to KulturFabrik, a vital part of the local cultural scene. This group of older women, which has been active for 15 years, sells homemade knitwear to raise funds for the renovation of the old ballroom. How Sächsische.de reports, the community particularly stood out at Christmas markets and the popular Remmi-Demmi in the LebensRäume Park. This initiative shows once again how committed the citizens of Hoyerswerda are.
The knitting women have raised a lot of money through various events and by making available an empty shop in the Lausitz Center. This commitment has led to them being able to celebrate the anniversary of the community center where the KulturFabrik is housed on September 5th. Heike Kalkbrenner, who was from the KulturFabrik association, happily accepted the donation.
KulturFabrik – A place full of possibilities
The KulturFabrik Hoyerswerda e.V. has been an important part of the city's cultural scene since its founding in 1994. The club was founded in a former youth club in order to develop high-quality, cross-genre projects. Over the years, Kufa has developed in various locations, most recently moving back to the market square in the community center in 2015.
Events take place here regularly, such as the popular art markets and street theater festivals. Kufa works closely with local institutions such as the “Lausitzer Seenland” tourist information center and the Natural Science and Technology Children and Youth Center (NATZ) and offers a wide range of activities, ranging from theaters to creative workshops and music events.
Cultural commitment for the future
A look into the future shows that cultural commitment is not only important for the present, but also for the years to come. The “LOCAL” program The Federal Cultural Foundation aims to build at least 26 sustainable networks in cities with fewer than 100,000 inhabitants by 2031. Art and cultural associations, socio-cultural centers and libraries are to be supported with up to 240,000 euros per project over four years. Kufa would be an ideal partner to benefit from this funding and further strengthen the local cultural scene.
This stumbling block from the knitting women impressively shows how important community projects are. It remains exciting to see how Kufa continues to develop and what new ideas come out of Hoyerswerda. The next chance to experience this diversity is just around the corner with the upcoming anniversary of the community center.
