Sachsenliga 2025: Promoters and changes cause excitement!

Attention football fans! The new season in the Sachsenliga and the Sachsenklasse relays experienced its first excitement with the publication of the relay classification. The Saxon Football Association (SFV) has announced the new classification, which is a source of great joy for some teams but a source of concern for others. So reported Sächsische.de about the exciting developments.

It can be observed that with the new season four teams will be promoted to the Saxony League compared to the previous season. Particularly noteworthy is the U23 team from Dynamo Dresden, who now also play in the top division of the Saxon Football Association, the Sachsenliga. The league, which was held for the first time in 1990/1991, includes a total of 16 teams fighting for the championship title.

Staggering causes excitement

The division of the Sachsenklasse relays East, North and West also caused a lot of discussion among the audience. While the East relay was filled with 16 teams, there are only 12 teams in the North relay, which causes a lack of understanding. The East Pool, originally with 19 teams, also had to be adjusted as the division progressed. New to the East season are, among others, Gelb-Weiß Görlitz, Blau-Weiß Zschachwitz and SV Bannewitz. Radebeuler BC, on the other hand, is moving from the north to the east relay.

Motor Wilsdruff has also been reassigned to the North Squadron after a voluntary relegation to the West Squadron. Meißner SV and newly promoted FV Gröditz also start in this group. While the SFV is trying to ensure that the relay teams are balanced regionally, there is still discontent in the league.

Relegated and promoted teams – the sales of the season

An interesting aspect of the new season confirms that the number of relegated teams from the Sachsenliga annually depends on the relegated teams from higher classes and a minimum number of two clubs that can be relegated to the state class. The newcomers SC Freital II, Lipsia Eutritzsch and Tanne Thalheim managed to get promoted to the 6th league. As direct losers from last season, things threaten to get tricky for some teams.

Controversies and opinions

Opinions about refereeing are also heated. The coach of Großenhain, Torsten Marx, was very critical of the referees' performance, which in his opinion could have contributed to his club's relegation. Such tensions seem to be part of the football cosmos in Saxony.

However, society and the media remain optimistic and excited for an exciting season. Who will ultimately prevail and achieve the high viewership numbers that this league has enjoyed in the past? The record is 12,150 spectators, achieved in the 2007/08 season at the game between FC Sachsen Leipzig II and 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig.
