On Sunday afternoon, July 6, 2025, there was an attempted robbery in Chemnitz that shocked the city's events. A 23-year-old man was approached on Luisenplatz by a trio of young people aged 13, 16 and 17. They asked him for a cigarette. When the victim refused, the boys gave chase and physically attacked him at the corner of Winklerstrasse and Leipziger Strasse by punching and kicking him, which resulted in minor injuries to the victim. Their target was the victim's shoulder bag, but fortunately the robbery failed as passers-by rushed to help, causing the trio to flee. On the same day, at 10:50 p.m., in OT Altendorf, a woman and two men were the target of a suspected threat with a compressed air rifle, although fortunately no one was injured. The investigation into attempted grievous bodily harm is ongoing.
In addition, there was a theft from a building destroyed by fire in OT Furth. Three men broke in and stole drinks and food worth around 750 euros, which led to the initiation of a theft investigation. On July 5th, a major speed check took place on the A4, where out of 8,390 vehicles passing through, 814 violated the speed regulations. 23 of them received a driving ban.
The incidents of the last few days make it clear how diverse and challenging the security situation in the region currently is.
