Big cultural weekend: Municipal music school celebrates 75 years!

A festive cultural weekend is just around the corner! On November 8th and 9th, 2025, the Chemnitz Municipal Music School invites you to the event hall at Kraftwerk e. V. a. The revue “C the Centuries – a revue in image and sound” is presented here, which not only celebrates the 75th anniversary of the music school, but is also part of the celebrations for European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025. How chemnitz.de reported, the concerts are on the program on Saturday, November 8th at 4:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, November 9th at 4:00 p.m.

The admission prices are family-friendly: at the day and evening box office a ticket costs 15 euros, for children up to 18 years, Chemnitzpass holders as well as for trainees and students there are tickets for 9 euros. If you book in advance, you save a little and pay 14.50 euros (reduced 8.50 euros). Tickets are available from the municipal music school administration or can be ordered by email.

Artistic highlights and themes

The revue “C the Centuries” was directed by Matthias Bega in collaboration with teachers and students from the music school. The program focuses on Chemnitz's contemporary history since 1143 and offers musical accompaniment by various ensembles from the music school. The highlight will be the Gruppa Karl-Marx-Stadt with the pop strings, which will certainly make for a captivating experience. This event is not only a celebration of music, but also a homage to the tradition of musical education in Chemnitz.

But the cultural program of the municipal music school does not end here. On March 9, 2025, another remarkable concert will take place in the Great Hall of the Music School. Works by composers from Chemnitz and the surrounding area after 1945 are performed here. In particular, the children's and youth orchestra “Streichhölzer” under the direction of Andreas Winkler will perform an exciting program that offers numerous musical contributions.
