The two have repeatedly caused a sensation at German championships in recent years. Second place went to Robin Rautzenberg and Sven Lohse from RSV Chemnitz, who also fought in front of a large crowd of 650 spectators.
Race course and exciting duels
The stayer races are characterized by the exciting dynamics in which a rider on the motorcycle sets the pace while the cyclist rides in the slipstream and reaches speeds of over 60 km/h. Rautzenberg, the current German champion, won the first run, but had some difficulties in the second run. Despite these challenges, he was overall satisfied with his performance. This competition also serves as important preparation for the upcoming European Championships in September in Erfurt.
The jury ultimately awarded the silver to Rautzenberg and Lohse, while Reinier Honig from the Netherlands won the bronze medal. Hagen, who has been cycling for eleven years and started racing in 2019, spoke about the positive development in his team after the victory and emphasized how important such competitions are for athletic preparation.
