Next Sunday, August 17th, history will be written in Chemnitz. The starting shot for the new Sports Walk of Fame will be given at 12:45 p.m. in the Sportforum at Reichenhainer Straße 154. This event goes hand in hand with the “Inclusive Wins” family festival, which is taking place in the city for the first time. The opening ceremony will be attended by, among others, Mayor Sven Schulze and numerous well-known athletes, who will unveil the newly designed arcades on the Marathon Tower.

What can visitors expect? The eventful history of Chemnitz sports comes to life in the ten arcade arches. The exhibition presents eight sports that have a long tradition in the region. Important information about the Saxony Olympic base, popular sports in Chemnitz and the city sports association are also provided. The boards on display are not only dedicated to sporting heroes, but also to general knowledge about sport in Chemnitz.

Inclusive Wins – A celebration for everyone!

Parallel to the opening of the Walk of Fame, the inclusive sports festival “Inclusive Wins” takes place, which stands for diversity and participation. The patron of the event is none other than Olympic champion Katarina Witt, who supports the festival in her home country. Various sports are presented here, such as 3×3 basketball, breaking and football, where teams of professionals work together with athletes with disabilities. Special participation from athletes from the Paralympic, Deaflympic and Special Olympics programs is also expected.

On the evening before the event there is also the gala “Inklusiv Wint – The Show in the Factory”, which is designed for and with people with and without disabilities. ARD sports reporter Tom Scheunemann will comment live, which makes the event even more exciting. More information about this colorful program can be found at inklusiv-gewinnt.de.
