Animal shelter festival in Chemnitz: Celebrating 35 years for our four-legged friends!
On Saturday, June 21, 2025, the Pfarrhübel animal shelter in Chemnitz is inviting people to a very special celebration. On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the Pfarrhübel animal protection association, there will be a celebration from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the animal residents will have the chance of a new home. Around 40 dogs and many cats and small animals are waiting to be discovered. Among them are four lively huskies who are looking for a loving home. It's definitely worth taking a look at the animal offerings!
Visitors can look forward to a colorful program. Exciting activities, informative demonstrations and information stands are planned with various partners, including the rescue dog and medical group and the Spikenase Zwickauer Land association. The ferret friends are also on site to advise on the special care of these small animals. A very special highlight: The hairdresser “Anno 2012” will conjure up animal hairstyles on site - and all for a good cause. These snipping acts are sure to result in one or two animal haircuts!
Promotions and attractions
The animal shelter flea market offers an anniversary calendar in three formats that documents the history and activities of the association. Dogs can also be captured in a special light by Langohrliebe Photography - a great way to create memories! In addition, animal physiotherapist Beatrice Lange provides information about her work and offers advisory discussions. For little craft lovers, the “Crochet Badger Campaign” is an absolute must. Unique keychains can be made here.
The Pfarrhübel animal shelter, founded in 1995, has set itself the goal of finding a nice home for animals in need. This includes not only taking in found animals, but also taking in animals whose owners are overwhelmed. At the same time, animal protection is also actively promoted in society. What could be nicer than creating an animal-loving environment and enabling the many four-legged friends to start a new phase in life? Tierschutz Chemnitz reports on the various challenges and successes in everyday animal protection.
A look back at a long history
The area of the animal shelter was once a pig fattening facility in the GDR and has since undergone an exciting transformation. It is not only a place of rescue, but also a meeting place for people and animals. The animal shelter is strongly committed to animal welfare and also offers free advice to citizens about wild animals. This actively contributes to education and a better understanding of animal welfare issues.
The particularly strong connection to the animal kingdom is underpinned by numerous events. The nearby Tierschutz Berlin also regularly hosts events that draw attention to the rights and needs of our animal residents. If you are looking for deeper insights into the topics surrounding animal protection and biodiversity, these are the perfect opportunities for you.
A visit to the Pfarrhübel animal shelter on June 21st is not only an excellent opportunity to find a new furry friend. It is also an opportunity to find out about animal protection and the many activities of a committed association. Come by and support the great commitment of animal rights activists!
