Dynamo Dresden lost 2:4 to Slavia Prague in the friendly!
SG Dynamo Dresden was defeated 2-4 in a friendly against SK Slavia Prague on Sunday, July 13, 2025. In front of around 19,000 spectators, including 2,000 loyal Dynamo fans, the atmosphere in the sold-out stadium was electric, but the visitors from Prague proved to be the stronger team. As already MDR reported, the first half result remained even at 0-0, with the home team having the better chances.
The Dynamo keeper Daniel Mesenhöler showed a strong performance in the first 45 minutes and prevented a deficit with two saves. But immediately after the break, Vasil Kusej gave Prague a 1-0 lead in the 47th minute. Despite Nils Fröling hitting the post in the 50th minute, the Czechs increased their lead to 4-0 between the 58th and 65th minutes with goals from David Doudera, Divine Teah and Daiki Hashioka. The last minutes of the game once again belonged to Dynamo, who were able to reduce the score to 2:4 in the final phase thanks to goals from Froling and Friedrich Müller, as Blick reports.
The gameplay in detail
The first half offered an exciting duel in which Dynamo played well, but did not find the right penetration. Thomas Stamm, Dynamo's coach, used this opportunity to use all healthy professionals as well as some young talents. However, important players such as Niklas Hauptmann and goalkeeper Tim Schreiber were missing due to injuries. After the half-time break, Stamm had his entire team changed to bring a breath of fresh air into the game, but that didn't have the desired effect.
The crowd of almost 19,000 was a nice sight, but the atmosphere could have been better. Even though Dynamo enjoyed a respectable average of 28,691 fans at their home stadium last season, the team was not in the best light in this friendly. However, such test games are primarily used for preparation, and so Dynamo will have to start the new season on July 20th against FSV Zwickau and on August 3rd against Greuther Fürth.
Look at the statistics
Last season, Dynamo Dresden was the team with the highest number of spectators in the 3rd league, as an analysis by Footystats shows. The average attendance per game was 17,043, which is a strong argument for the club's popularity. With the support of their fans, the players can look forward to the challenges ahead with optimism.
Although the result against Slavia Prague is sobering, the anticipation for the new challenges that the coming season brings with it remains undiminished. Dynamo Dresden will do everything in its power to use this experience as an incentive and come back stronger.
