Get involved for the future: volunteer services at Caritas!
Volunteer work is currently very popular - whether in the social, cultural or ecological areas, more and more young people are discovering the opportunity to get involved. The offers from Caritas, which is now inviting young people to apply for voluntary service, are particularly exciting. The diocese of Dresden-Meißen reports that both the Voluntary Social Year (FSJ) and the Federal Voluntary Service (BFD) offer attractive ways to actively shape society. This commitment is extremely important, especially in times when social support is needed.
The Caritas Association for the Diocese of Dresden-Meißen offers various areas of application. Eloquent positions can be found in geriatric care, working with children and young people as well as in hospitals, educational institutions and also in supporting refugees. What counts here is not just the helping contribution, but also the personal development of volunteers. Caritas Human Resources Director Wolfram Mager emphasizes that voluntariness is the priority here and that essential social commitment is encouraged.
Diverse opportunities for committed people
Participating in a volunteer service doesn't just mean helping others - it also offers the opportunity to learn new skills and find out what area you might want to pursue professionally in the future. Benjamin Ebermann, Caritas speaker, speaks of a great opportunity to get to know social professions better. Every year of service, the volunteers are supported by experienced specialists who provide support and advice.
With a duration of at least six to a maximum of 18 months, the voluntary services are flexible in terms of time. Many choose to serve for 12 months, with the majority of deployments beginning in September. A monthly pocket money of up to 381 euros is offered, and the volunteers are socially insured during their service. The entitlement to child benefit also remains during this time.
Education day and much more
Volunteers have 25 days of education available, dealing with social, political and religious issues as well as personal life and career planning. A BFD for participants under 27 also includes a one-week seminar for political education. The FSJ can only be completed once, while the BFD can be completed several times. The differences between these two volunteer services are complex, but they both offer a wonderful platform to become active and have a positive influence on those around you.
