Hannover 96 gives up the league lead – disappointment after a 2-2 draw against Dresden

Last Sunday, the Hannover 96 footballers suffered a bitter setback in the 2nd Bundesliga. After an exciting game against SG Dynamo Dresden, the scoreboard ended up with a 2-2 draw, even though the Lower Saxony team played in the majority for more than 30 minutes. The team couldn't get beyond a draw and had to give up the lead in the table to other teams. This situation is particularly nerve-wracking after Hannover also lost the previous game against Hertha BSC 3-0 and has therefore been without a win for two games, as NDR reports.

The match started brilliantly. Benedikt Pichler gave Hannover the lead in the 11th minute with a hand penalty. But the joy was short-lived, as an own goal from Virgil Ghita in the 35th minute equalized. Nils Froling even gave Dresden the lead in the 41st minute before Noel Aseko equalized to make it 2-2 in the 43rd minute. After halftime the game flattened out and despite their numerical superiority, Hannover were unable to make any decisive impact. After the final whistle, Pichler expressed his disappointment about the draw, which was difficult for him and his team to accept.
