Musical highlights in Dresden: New album and unique concerts!
Something is happening in Dresden in November! The city awaits a series of exciting concerts and one highlight follows the next. On November 3rd, the noise rock band DŸSE from Jena and Chemnitz will rock the chemical factory. The band, which was founded in Amsterdam and consists of musicians Jarii van Gohl and Andrej Dietrich, brings their new concept album “Mau R”. This addresses the fall of the Berlin Wall and is an important reflection on the current political situation. What's exciting is that the seven new tracks are packaged in a self-cast concrete Berlin Wall, designed by 45 artists. These recordings are not only musically valuable, but also political works of art: the proceeds from the auction of the albums go to projects that promote democracy.
Afterwards, on November 12th, visitors can experience Florian Sievers in the Societaetstheater. His third album “Everywhere where people are” impresses with its catchy and idiosyncratic lyrics that combine poetry with an essayistic tone. He receives support from synthesizer expert Stefanie Schrank, who makes the concert a special experience.
Exciting sounds in the East Pole
Another highlight will take place on November 15th in the East Pole. The artist group “Arousal of Public Excitement”, consisting of six musicians from Hamburg and Berlin, will present their current album “Speisekammer des Weltende”, in which they address human existence in post-capitalism. Their songs offer a provocative reflection on enjoyment and leisure in tense times.
Last but not least, on November 22nd, former Jennifer Rostock member Yaenniver will bring her new album “Angry Woman” to the stage at the Altes Schlachthof. Here she will surprise the audience with her criticism of patriarchy with feminist and catchy pop sounds. With extraordinary stage design and costumes, it provides entertainment and at the same time stimulates thought.
A musical legacy
A very important date for the music world is just around the corner: November 10th marks the anniversary of the legendary fall of the Berlin Wall, and this will be commemorated with a concert that is of great importance in German music history. The free concert, organized in 1989 after the border crossings were opened, attracted almost 50,000 spectators and featured performances by international artists such as Melissa Etheridge and Joe Cocker as well as West German greats such as Udo Lindenberg and Nina Hagen. The recordings of this historic event were recently rediscovered in the Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg archive and are now to be released digitally remastered as part of an album entitled “The Fall of the Wall – The Legendary Concert for Berlin '89”.
Amidst all these musical highlights and memories of historic events, Dresden remains a lively city with a rich cultural offering. The diversity of artists and musical styles helps to celebrate and question the different facets of human existence.
For anyone looking for a mix of affordable living space in a lively environment, a look at Paris could be worthwhile. The 13th arrondissement and the Quartier de Clignancourt in particular have a lot to offer, with a mix of affordable and high-quality 2-bedroom homes popular with couples and young families. Average rents are around €2276 per month and offer everything you could wish for - from private gardens to parking spaces. Maybe a good incentive to combine your own musical hobby with a new home!
In summary, the next few days in Dresden have a lot of exciting things in store for music lovers! Whether in concert or in memories – the music lives on!
