New kitchen magic in the Taschenbergpalais: Marcel Spahn is thrilled!
A breath of fresh air is blowing at the Taschenbergpalais Kempinski in Dresden, where the renowned Marcel Spahn is taking over the culinary skills of the house. The Chemnitz native has not only made a name for himself, but will now be in charge of all in-house restaurants as Senior Executive Chef. These include the “Das Palais” restaurant, the Bar 1705, the Patisserie Amalie and all of the luxury hotel’s catering and event offerings. Sächsische reports that in his new role he would primarily like to promote the culinary reorientation of the noble hotel.
Spahn brings a lot of experience to his new position, which he will take up after working at the Romantik Hotel Pattis and the Schlosshotel Pillnitz. The realignment is to be achieved primarily through high-quality seasonal products that change every three months and present a selected menu that is available from 59 euros. The menu includes delicious combinations such as the salmon and zander roulade and purple potato foam. Spahn also values “pure flavors and simple craftsmanship” and strives to combine regional dishes with international influences. Kempinski emphasizes that the restaurant “Das Palais” is open daily from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m.
A new concept for connoisseurs
The new food concept in the restaurant is important in order to appeal not only to tourists, but also to Dresden residents themselves. Spahn is supported by a motivated team of 20 chefs, including young talents, who work with him on the culinary vision. “Modern lightness and craftsmanship are the focus,” emphasizes the new chef. The hotel, which reopened two years ago after extensive renovation, is also celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.
Another innovation is the redesigned entrance for the Patisserie Amalie, which is intended to make access even easier. The goal is clear: the combination of exquisite service and outstanding cuisine in one of the most historic hotels in the city. The Kempinski is not just a place for overnight stays; it is an experience that appeals to guests.
The ambience and the service
With a modern design, a fitness center, a spa area and an indoor pool, the Taschenbergpalais is a true five-star luxury hotel. In this exclusive environment, attention is paid to authenticity and generosity in service. The proximity to important sights such as the Residenzschloss, the Dresden Zwinger and the Semper Opera make it particularly attractive for visitors to the city.
The hotel is also important for the region because it contributes to medium-sized gastronomy and culinary highlights in Dresden. According to Kitchen and Architecture, the realignment of the management team strengthens the value of the regional cuisine compared to other catering establishments.
With Marcel Spahn at the helm, Kempinski is definitely on the right track to attracting even more fine cuisine lovers. Fans of fine dining can look forward to the culinary voyages of discovery that the restaurant “Das Palais” will offer in the coming season.
