The world of dance in Dresden is currently experiencing a special moment because the Palucca University of Dance has come a long way. The university, known for its unique “Palucca family,” maintains an atmosphere in which students, faculty and alumni feel a strong connection. An outstanding personality who has made a significant contribution to the development of the university is Professor Katharina Christl. The Dresden-born dancer and choreographer has an impressive career. After studying at the Palucca University, she returned to Dresden in 2015 to head the master's program in choreography before taking on the position of rector. Katharina Christl emphasizes that the family idea at Palucca University also includes conflicts that are seen as important for personal development. In this sense, the school promotes the constant development and improvement of its programs. She has a good knack for balancing different dance techniques and sees this undogmatic approach as a basis for innovation. The aim is to open up new perspectives for the students so that they can find their individual dance expression Palucca.
An example of this innovative strength was recently shown in a show program at the start of an anniversary year, which was organized especially for teachers and supporters of the university. Students presented an improvised dance across all classes, while Christl and two of her colleagues also took part in the event. The supporting parents also contributed to the success of the event with a lavish buffet, even if this was not for their own benefit, but to further strengthen the community MDR.
The path to a career – training for the future
The Palucca University strives to not only train its students in dance, but also to prepare them for the profession as committed artists. In comparison, Bruckner University offers an artistic-pedagogical bachelor's degree in contemporary dance that lasts eight semesters. Here, students acquire a Bachelor of Arts and specialize in various areas, including contemporary stage dance and dance education. This course aims to produce well-informed and passionate artists who could also work as mediators Bruckner University.
The structural connection between different training programs promotes an environment in which individual and collective creativity can flourish. The close cooperation between universities and the practice-oriented training within these programs show that well-founded dancer training focuses not only on technical skills, but also on social and cultural communication, which is very popular in the industry.
