Quick help in Cotta: Fire brigade saves man from iron fence!
In Dresden, in the Cotta district, there was a dramatic fire department operation on Tuesday afternoon. A 66-year-old man got his neck stuck between the spikes of a cast-iron fence, causing him to fall unconscious. The incident happened around 4:45 p.m. and the alarm alerted the emergency services because the man initially showed no signs of life. The fire department and an ambulance with an emergency doctor were then sent to the scene. Firefighters from three different rescue stations had to fight their way through parked vehicles to get to the scene of the accident, which made the operation even more challenging, as t-online.de reports.
However, the firefighters were undeterred and ultimately used muscle power to free the man from his predicament. Meanwhile, a specialized rescue team supported resuscitation attempts. After intensive resuscitation measures, the man's circulation was restored. He was then taken to a hospital, but was unresponsive at the time he was handed over to the clinic. The 66-year-old's health was still unclear the following Wednesday morning, which made the situation even more tense.
Support for relatives
The man's wife arrived at the scene during the operation. To make her situation easier, she was cared for by a crisis intervention team who addressed her psychological needs. Such missions are often extremely stressful not only for those affected themselves, but also for their relatives. The press also pointed out that the fire brigade was busy dealing with another basement fire in Neu-Omsewitz during their night shift, where around 35 residents were accommodated in a heated Dresden public transport bus until the situation was defused.
The police have now launched an investigation into the circumstances of the incident. The fire brigade's deployment showed once again how important it is to act quickly in critical moments and that it often only takes the smallest thing to get into an emergency situation. This illustrates the precarious situation in which the man found himself and the importance of the emergency services who are fully committed to such situations. The entire operation, which lasted over two hours, was an intense challenge for everyone involved, as mdr.de reports.
