Vermeij celebrates comeback: Dynamo newcomer back after shingles!

After a painful time, Vincent Vermeij (31) was finally able to make his debut for Dynamo Dresden. After eight long weeks of rehabilitation, the new signing was able to play in the friendly against Jahn Regensburg, which surprisingly ended 5-1. Vermeij had hoped to return sooner, but had to take a forced break due to shingles. This reported Picture.

The painful, contagious viral illness prevented him from his first appearance, which also surprised trainer Thomas Stamm. A week earlier, Vermeij had trained with his teammates, but this sudden illness dashed any hope of playing against Mainz. Stamm doesn't dare to field Vermeij again straight away and plans to bet on the players who played last. The nuisance for the Dresden team: In addition to Vermeij, Christoph Daferner (27), who has his hand in a cast, was also canceled. Here, too, it is about the health of the players, which is more important than quick deployment.

Shingles recovery

Vermeij, who was still in top form before his move from Düsseldorf, sometimes thought during his recovery that the return might take longer than expected. Loud gueterose-infection.de Shingles can take up to four weeks to heal. The associated symptoms, such as painful blisters, also significantly limit physical activity. This disease, which attacks the skin and nerves, can be particularly dangerous under psychological stress.

After the test match, Vermeij was happy that the painful time was over. He prepared a goal and felt good in terms of fitness. “In a few weeks I’ll be back in full shape,” he said optimistically. But coach Stamm sees that the newcomer is not yet in the rhythm and promises that Vermeij will get better week after week.

The way back

But what does the path back look like for him? Vermeij was already in the squad in mid-September, not for use, but to get to know the processes better. The pressure on the young player is growing as Dynamo has to play upcoming games without him and Daferner. “We need the right mix of players,” emphasized Stamm, while he would like to rely on Nils Froling (25) and others accordingly.

Vermeij takes on the challenge with a good hand. He is ready to give everything to get back on the pitch quickly. So it remains exciting to see how the situation develops and when we can finally see him in top form again. It certainly feels good that he can overcome this challenge with his friends on the team.
