World record attempt in Dresden: 12 meter high jump in the NIGHT of the JUMPs!

On June 14, 2025, the Rudolf Harbig Stadium in Dresden will be dedicated to the spectacular world of freestyle motocross and action sports. The “NIGHT of the JUMPs” event not only celebrates the 25th anniversary of this impressive sports series, but also features a breathtaking world record attempt. Renowned freestyle rider Marc Pinyol plans to do a backflip jump from an impressive height of 12 meters. Such an undertaking is risky on a motocross motorcycle, but it is also an absolute adrenaline-filled highlight for all participants and spectators.

The event promises pure top-classness! Over 21 athletes from seven nations are doing their best to shine in BMX, MTB, scooter and snowmobile disciplines in addition to freestyle motocross. Well-known talents such as Luc Ackermann from Germany, the Czech Libor Podmol and the Italian star Davide Rossi are expected. These aspiring athletes bring fresh tricks and impressive performances to the ramps built specifically for the occasion - up to eight ramps and two Olympic trampolines are part of the setup.

A safe jump into adventure

As part of the event, specially developed AirBags will be used for the first time this year to minimize the risk of injury to the athletes. This is reminiscent of the incident in 2012 when German rider Luc Ackermann crashed and injured himself during a world record attempt in Cologne. Safety is a top priority and the new AirBag system is a significant innovation for the freestyle scene. The “NIGHT of the JUMPs” manages to combine spectacular performances with state-of-the-art safety equipment, giving spectators an even better experience.

Competitions start at 3:15 p.m., with the event opening at 3 p.m. Before things really get going, fans will have the opportunity to get closer to the athletes at the pit party in the paddock from 1:30 p.m. and enjoy the atmosphere before the big showdown. Tickets are available from just €23.40 and can be purchased both online and at the stadium box office.

The fascination of freestyle motocross

Freestyle motocross is a sport that has grown enormously in popularity over the past few decades. The backflip was once considered nearly impossible and was considered the “holy grail of FMX.” The pioneers of this sport have inspired generations of fans and achieved numerous technical achievements. The backflip was popular for the first time at the X Games in 2002, and the scene has continued to develop since then. On June 14th, the success story of freestyle motocross will be continued with another milestone.

The “NIGHT of the JUMPs” attracts not only national but international athletes and is an event that has already thrilled 3.5 million fans with over 350 shows in more than 22 countries. Further tour dates in Germany, Poland, Sweden and Hungary are already planned for 2025. So fans can look forward to a year full of exciting action.

A loud “shoo, shoo” from the audience and the anticipation can quickly be felt as the machines roar and the athletes prepare for their performances. It will be interesting to see whether Marc Pinyol can successfully complete his world record attempt - the whole world is watching Dresden!
