Großnaundorf outdoor pool wins 2,500 euros and revives the Trabant tradition!

In Großnaundorf, a small town in the Bautzen district, the outdoor pool club has won a very special win with fresh enthusiasm. In the radio competition “United strong!” They landed a whopping 2,500 euros from MDR SACHSEN and the German television lottery. This sum can certainly be used for the upcoming renovation work in the outdoor pool, which is nothing other than a cultural meeting place for the community's approximately 1,000 residents.

The key to success was the brilliant recognition of the Saxon actress Claudia Fehller, who many know from the classic film “Go Trabi Go” or from series such as “For All Cases Stefanie” and “SOKO Wismar”. MDR reports that ... The club received 1,250 euros for correct identification and another 1,250 euros for completing a special daily task.

The special challenge

The daily task of the competition was to gather six sky blue Trabants at the outdoor pool by 4 p.m. All vehicles should have drivers with mustaches and bucket hats - in the spirit of the cult film. In the search for the Trabis, the parents, young people and regular guests of the outdoor pool pulled together; It was really impressive that 25 blue-painted Trabis finally came together. Sächsische reports that ... This campaign caused quite a stir and attracted around 200 spectators watched the spectacle spellbound.

The targeted 2,500 euros will be invested in the renovation of the electrical systems in the kitchen of the outdoor pool. An important step, as the outdoor pool is run entirely by volunteers - the municipality has no financial resources available for this. The dedicated helpers from all generations stand together to keep this place alive. Pensioners take care of the entrance and clean the toilets, while students and kindergarten children use the pool for swimming lessons.

Volunteering as the heart of the community

The importance of volunteering cannot be overestimated. In Germany, around 16.9 million people volunteer for the common good. Not only are these numbers impressive, they also show how much such initiatives benefit our communities. Statista reports that... Voluntary activities often take place in sports clubs, churches and charities and play a crucial role in the sense of community in local institutions.

At a time when young people are often active in voluntary services such as the Voluntary Social Year (FSJ) or Voluntary Ecological Year (FÖJ), the example of the outdoor pool association in Großnaundorf shows how valuable the commitment of all age groups is. It is precisely these voluntary activities that ensure a lively and active society and create a feeling of connection.
