Three men from abroad straight to Görlitz prison!

Last weekend, the federal police made sensational arrests at the Görlitz border crossings. Three men were sent straight to prison, and the reasons for this are anything but trivial.

On Saturday, a 50-year-old Lithuanian tried to enter Germany via the A4. During the check, the officers discovered that there was a 16-year-old arrest warrant against him from the Münster public prosecutor's office. The man was sentenced to six years in prison in 2006 for aggravated extortion and aggravated robbery. After his detention he was deported, but there was a condition that he would be arrested if he re-entered the country. As the Saxon reported, the Lithuanian now has 1,035 days left in his prison sentence - that's almost three years.

But he wasn't the only one in this tricky situation. On Friday afternoon, a 58-year-old Pole was checked by the police on Görlitzer Brückenstraße. Here too, an arrest warrant came to light. The man had failed to pay a fine of 1,335 euros for attempted joint theft and theft with weapons and now faces the reality of having to serve this sentence in prison. The Press portal explained that his arrest warrant had already been issued by the Limburg public prosecutor's office in February this year.

The third arrest

On Sunday morning at 4 a.m. a third man crossed the city bridge from Zgorzelec to Görlitz. There were also several arrest warrants against him: one for insult and the other for theft. According to information from the Saxon This man owes a total of 1,750 euros, which he also cannot pay, which results in his imprisonment.

The events of the last few days show once again that the federal police are keeping a watchful eye at the border crossings. These arrests resulted in several criminal offenses and missed fines. At a time when the police are keeping an eye on the security situation both on site and online, it remains to be seen how the situation at the border crossings will develop and whether the judiciary will take appropriate action.
